The ascent of sky lanterns is prohibited in Germany for fire protection reasons. This prohibition applies in principle to all federal states. In Hamburg, Saxony-Anhalt and North Rhine-Westphalia, exemptions are theoretically possible, but are rarely granted.
The task of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH is to carry out aeronautical law inspections, i.e. tests for safety and compatibility in airspace.
We reserve the right to review only those applications for air safety compatibility that have been approved in the respective federal states. The online application can only be used after such approval has been submitted.
